Cisco and Vade Secure signed an OEM agreement to manage e-subscriptions and improve email classification for a better user experience in their Secure Email Gateway. Vade Secure achieves worldwide leadership on Graymail Management

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JUNE, 2015 – Vade Secure, the leader in graymail management and email security, is pleased to announce that Cisco Systems has chosen Vade Secure’s graymail filtering technology – including email classification and safe unsubscribe – to further improve their email gateway’s ability to manage wanted and unwanted marketing email.

Cisco Systems is the market leader for email security with its Email Security Appliance (Cisco ESA), formerly known as IronPort ESA. These appliances provide dedicated antispam, antivirus, and antiphishing security that virtually eliminate email threats before they even reach a computer. With the new ESA 9.5 release, which includes Vade Secure’s graymail filter, Cisco is now further raising the bar for the best email security solution in the market.

Graymail management includes services such as automated classification of low priority emails (marketing emails, newsletters, social network notifications, etc.) and one-click safe unsubscribe solutions. Vade Secure is the only company that can provide graymail management with both classification and secure, automated unsubscription.

Worldwide studies conducted in 2014 by Vade Secure indicate that, in the professional email environment, more than 50% of emails are graymail (not including emails already filtered as spam), which is painful for the end user to manage. The trend is still rising with more and more marketing and social emails.

“End users don’t care about the clinical definition of Spam and are frustrated with the level of ’unwanted’ email in their inboxes,” wrote Peter Firstbrook, vice president of research and Neil Wynne service analyst at Gartner (Magic Quadrant for Security Email Gateway from June 29, 2015). They also add, “Fifty-four percent of respondents to our 2015 survey indicated that bulk email filtering will be an important or very important critical capability of their next Secure Email Gateway (SEG). Dissatisfaction with current bulk email capabilities is a significant pain point of existing solutions.”

This partnership represents a strategic commitment for both Cisco and Vade Secure to combine their strengths to fulfill the requirements of improved security and enhanced user experience.

“We are proud to have reached Cisco’s expectations, which were very high, to enhance their existing great product. They have been able to see the added value from our technology as well as the great agility of our team during the testing period,” says Adrien Gendre, vice president of product management at Vade Secure.
